Our Curriculum

St Joseph's Statement of Curriculum Intent

"Striving for excellence in the light of God."

Our curriculum is driven by our school motto, ‘striving for excellence in the Light of God’. It has been developed to ensure that all learners experience opportunities that meet their needs and challenge them to reach their full potential. Our curriculum fully embraces the rich cultural diversity of the community that we serve. As such, our curriculum recognises and celebrates the different backgrounds of our pupils. This allows children to learn about their own cultural identity and also enhances the cultural capital of the whole school community. Our aim at St Joseph’s is that the children will learn and respect British Values and base their lives around the gospel values. We continually work towards a community that follows in the footsteps of Christ in all that we do. Each one of God’s children at St Joseph’s is praised, celebrated and made to feel important; regardless of their gender, ethnicity, social backgrounds or special needs. We welcome differences within our school community and challenge all to reach their full potential; learning in God’s love.

KCSP Statement of Curriculum Intent

"I have come so that they may have life and have it to the full" - John 10:10

Inspired by Jesus Christ’s example and the Gospel values of love, joy and compassion, we nurture and develop the whole child so that each unique individual grows constantly in confidence, and has the knowledge, skills and self-esteem to achieve their true potential.

All children will access a rich, ambitious, challenging curriculum; one that is broad, balanced and relevant, fostering curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning. It will prepare them well for each stage of education, employment or training and enable them, as educated citizens, to contribute to creating a better world.
